Creativity in Human–AI Partnership

When music becomes a collaboration — and a place

Creativity in Human–AI Partnership traces how technology has reshaped music before turning that history into an experiment. A documented human–AI workflow produces a music demo, which is then embedded in a lunar VR environment where listening becomes spatial and embodied.

The Question Behind the Work

Collaboration begins where a generated result is no longer accepted as final.

Existing text-to-music systems can quickly produce complete tracks, but speed and completion do not guarantee specificity, entertainment value or authorship that a musician can recognize as their own.

The project asks what happens when AI is treated as one participant in a production process. The human sets direction, evaluates proposals and intervenes repeatedly, while the system expands the available musical material.

Following the Research

Every musical technology reorganizes creativity

The historical archive follows instruments, recording systems and digital platforms across regions and periods. It frames AI not as music’s first technical disruption, but as the latest tool to redistribute musical skill, access and control.

Instruments Are Knowledge Systems

Regional maps connect materials, craft and performance traditions, showing how technical knowledge travels through instruments.

Recording Changed the Musical Object

Mechanical, electronic and digital systems transformed music from a performance into something that could be stored, edited, copied and distributed.

AI Changes the Site of Decision

Generative tools move creative choice into the selection and revision of proposals, making judgment as important as the first musical idea.

From an Idea to a Form

What does a genuinely collaborative workflow need to show?

The project begins with a theme and tone, then moves through AI-proposed instruments and chord progressions, human modification, rhythmic arrangement, bass, effects and preliminary audition.

Because listening and revision recur at each stage, authorship is distributed without becoming anonymous. The workflow records who proposes, who evaluates and where the direction changes.

Human creative intervention is not the last step; it is the structure of the process.

Why It Matters

Why this project matters

Creativity in Human–AI Partnership matters because it connects historical research with a finished creative experiment. By making both the production workflow and the lunar VR experience visible, it shows that AI music is not only about generating a track, but about changing where, how and through whose decisions music is made and heard.
