EDITORIAL FOCUSEditorial Direction · Platform Strategy

Hi, I’m Elliott Tang, a junior at The Experimental High School Attached to Beijing Normal University in Beijing. My academic interests span physics, science, technology, and society (STS), Classics and philosophy. While physics reveals the fundamental principles that govern our world, I believe its interplay with society, its philosophical underpinnings, and the historical processes through which it has developed deserve far more attention than they often receive.

Beyond academics, musical theater, dance, basketball, and tennis are integral parts of my life. I’m drawn to asking questions that reach beneath the surface, examining ideas from multiple perspectives, and pursuing a more thorough understanding of what I encounter. Rather than passively accepting knowledge as it is presented, I prefer to investigate how it is formed, how it comes to be accepted, and how I might arrive at answers through my own inquiry.

It was this desire that led me to establish this platform: to develop a systematic approach to cultivating knowledge, to connect people across geographical and cultural boundaries—from China to the United States and beyond—in a shared process of questioning and discovery, and to nurture a community in which sustained, thoughtful inquiry becomes a habit.

THEMEEnvironment & Biology

Benny Li is a junior at The Experimental High School Attached to Beijing Normal University in Beijing. Beyond academics, he has a deep curiosity about nature and enjoys interpreting living systems from different perspectives, from biology to the humanities. His distinctive cultural background, together with his sensitivity to life, place, and the natural world, has inspired his growing interest in the intersection of environmental studies and the humanities. Outside the classroom, Benny enjoys playing flag football and practicing the ruan, a traditional Chinese plucked-string instrument. For him, both sports and music offer different ways of experiencing the world—through movement, rhythm, and connection—and continually shape how he observes, questions, and understands life.

THEMEMusic · AI · Culture

I love listening to Japanese pop music, watching anime, and drawing. I’m a bit of an otaku/homebody boy who loves romantic East Asian pop culture. I’m always afraid of what will happen in the future, and I’m very sensitive to the emotions of people around me—I can really empathize with them.
